Case Study 1 : Software Company - ERP System. |
|
Background. A software company who is creating an ERP system specialized
for fashion companies. The software handles the start of the production of the
garments until the sales in the shops worldwide. The software handles stock,
traffic, production, sales, etc... All the different modules needed for
controlling the flow from A to Z.
This ERP System is sold to different fashion companies around the world and
each company has his own needs.
How DB Manual helps. Each fashion company has its
own requirements to adapt the ERP software, and sometimes changes need to
be done by their own developers. In the beginning the software company
gave the database structure to the customer in a printed version. Hundreds of
pages bundled together and copies 2-3 times. This was a waste of paper, money
and effort. The software company decided to use DB Manual. Now they can burn
the database structure easily on a CD, they don't have to print hundreds of
pages anmymore and updates can be send easily to their customers when a new
version is released.

Case Study 2 : International Company - Different
Departments. |
|
Background. The company is related in food manufacturing and is located
in more than 20 countries all over the world. New software was developed
internally to follow up their contracts with their customers. One department is
responsible of the data but many other departments had to query the database.
The problem here was given all the departments' access to the database,
installing software on each pc to query the database, etc. The idea was to give
access to the database structure so every department can create their own
queries. Once the queries are created, the IT Department created the reporting
tool with these queries.
How DB Manual helps. When using the DB Manual, all departments had
access to the database structure to create their reporting queries, but none of
these departments needed direct access to the database!
